When I attended school in the 70′s & 80′s computers where new ideas. It was a big deal to have an electric typewriter. I have worked in an elementary school the past 14 years and saw many pieces of technology introduced into the classroom. I have seen the teachers using the technology to support their teaching not to replace what they teach. Here is an interesting article that addresses that teachers are still needed.

I think teaching is making it easier for the learner by giving them more ways to learn with the use of media. But more time is being consumed by the teacher as they learn to use the new forms of technology and research usable resources for their students and classrooms.

Many teacher fear that their jobs will be replaced but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

I can see web-cams being added so when student are ill they can still have the classroom experience. This will also insure safety for students and teachers. I have seen the introduction of white boards to smart boards. The introduction of desktops to laptops. I love that teachers are open minded to the future as our students will be working with technology. They need to know how to use it on a daily bases.

I know that being an educator means being a life-long learner so that my students have the skills and information that they will need to succeed in there career.

This is more like what my elementary classroom looked like!

Desks, books, globes, and chalkboards.

The classrooms of today!

The use of smart boards, elmos, laptops, digital camera, and many useful programs.

Maybe the future!

Touch screens at your desk, laptops or iPad with your e-books for easy  transport and use, and students with teacher contact will improve.

This technology class is a step in the right direction to making teachers learn to work with different tools that they can add to their classrooms. Teachers need to be open minded to new ideas and always learning to prepare our students for the future. Technology has been added to the common core list of requirements as well. We all know that you can hardly go anywhere these days without seeing a smartphone, iPads, or other forms of computers. This is sure to grow as time goes on. Technology is not just a fad it is hear to stay. I have heard people say they are to old to learn new technology but they are being forced to learn it just try to make a phone call to a business now days, no people to answer the phones just a computer asking you to push a button to direct your call. This is the future those things are happening everywhere. Some older people are not happy but are learning and some even are coming to like it.
